Melbourne based guitarist, singer, songwriter Jeb Cardwell has opened for legendary icons Steve Earle and Tony Joe White and plays guitar for acclaimed artist Kasey Chambers.
In 2021 Jeb released his debut studio album ‘My Friend Defiance’ which had for a long time been eagerly anticipated by his fans and peers and has since been hailed by Henry Wagons of DoubleJ radio as - One of the greatest albums of the year by an Australian artist. It’s a bluesy, Americana, Beatles-esque lesson in guitar tones dripping with Southern swagger, interweaving synth and piano melodies, slide guitar riffs, rich and soulful vocals. It’s described by Rhythms Magazine as - An album that carries with it the poise and assuredness that comes from two decades of playing, writing and singing with the best of them.
All songs were written by Jeb Cardwell. It was recorded and mixed at Union St Studios and mastered by Grammy award-winning Brian Lucey (Black Keys, Lucinda Williams, Liam Gallagher). My Friend Defiance features the crème de la crème of Melbourne's recording artists: Roger Bergodaz (Lost Ragas, Tex Perkins, Jordie Lane), Tim McCormack (Stella Angelico, Downhills Home), Bernie McMahon (Tracy McNeil & The Good Life, Jeff Lang), Mic Hubbard (Ella Hooper, Spencer P. Jones) and the Wolfgramm Sisters. Special guests include Kasey Chambers and Butch Norton (Eels, Lucinda Williams). The album is produced by Jeb Cardwell, Roger Bergodaz and Tim McCormack.

Jeb, along with his bandmates ( Tim McCormack & Roger Bergodaz) is currently in the process of recording an EP. Fans can look forward to the release of a single from this EP, which is anticipated to drop in either April or May. Coinciding with the single release, Jeb Cardwell Band will be hitting the road to support USA group ‘Vapors of Morphine’ on their upcoming tour of the East Coast of Australia.
